The terms we
work on.
Last updated: 3 October 2026
These terms cover how we provide website design services. They are written to be read rather than skimmed past, because the things people most often get caught out by are in here.
The First Look
A First Look is a design direction for your website, prepared before you commit to anything. It is provided at no cost and carries no obligation.
A First Look is a concept, not a finished website. It shows the intended direction. It is not a deliverable you own or can use, and it does not transfer any rights to you unless you commission the full build.
You are free to review a First Look and decide not to proceed. If you do not proceed, nothing further is owed.
If you decide to proceed
Once you tell us you want to move forward, we will confirm what is included, what it costs, and the timeline before any work begins. Nothing is charged and no work starts until you have agreed to those terms in writing.
You are responsible for providing the content, images, and information the site needs, and for confirming that anything you supply is accurate and that you have the right to use it.
Hosting
Hosting is required for your website to remain online and is billed annually. It is not optional and it is not a one-off charge.
- Autopay is required. Hosting is set up on autopay so it renews without interruption.
- Costs may change. Hosting costs can change from year to year. We provide the current cost at the time of service.
- Non-payment takes the site offline. If hosting is not paid, the website will not be online.
Your website and your domain
The website built for you, along with its design, content, and branding, is yours. Your domain is registered in your name.
Your website runs on our platform and cannot be moved to another hosting provider. Owning your website and being able to move it elsewhere are two different things, and we would rather be clear about that before you commit than after.
You are responsible for keeping your domain registration renewed. If the registration lapses, you may lose the domain.
Business email
We can set up business email attached to your domain as part of a project. This is a paid service, billed separately from the website and from hosting. We will confirm the current cost before anything is set up.
Cancellation
We ask for 60 days' written notice to cancel. This allows us time to provide any offboarding information you may need, including details for connected services such as email set up alongside your domain.
Hosting already paid for covers the period it was paid for. Cancelling does not take a website offline before the end of the period you have paid for.
Scope of the project
The initial quote is a one-time design fee. It covers the work itemised on your invoice and nothing beyond it.
Any service outside the scope of the project that was invoiced is billable. That includes, but is not limited to:
- Revisions or changes requested after the site is complete and delivered
- Changes to the domain
- Email configuration
- Offboarding
- Additional pages, features, or content added later
This is not a penalty for asking. It simply reflects that the one-time design fee pays for the project as scoped and invoiced, and work outside that scope is separate work. We will always tell you the cost before carrying anything out.
Ongoing services
No ongoing services are provided unless we have agreed them with you in writing for a monthly or yearly investment.
If nothing like that is in place, then once your project is delivered the relationship is complete. Anything further is a new piece of work, quoted and agreed before it begins. Hosting is required to keep the site online, but it is a hosting charge rather than an ongoing service agreement.
What we are responsible for
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill. We do not guarantee any particular outcome in search results or AI recommendations. Nobody can, because no one controls those systems. What we do commit to is building a site that is technically sound, clearly structured, and honest about your business.
We are not responsible for losses arising from things outside our control, including changes to third-party services, hosting outages, or problems caused by content you supplied.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page will change when we do. Changes do not apply retroactively to work already agreed.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, ask before you commit. We would rather explain it than have you sign something you are unsure about.
